INDIANAPOLIS — Winning the men’s 65-69 title at the USATF Club Cross Country Championships, Jacob Nur (Elk Grove, California/USATF Pacific) earned recognition as the 43rd USATF Athlete of the Week award winner for 2022. Nur, 67, clocked 29:51 for 8km on the challenging Golden Gate Park course in San Francisco to win his age group by 1:38 and achieve an age grade of 92.24%, the best of all finishers in the masters men’s competition. What a day it was! Following the first two races, due to the water-logged soil from the recent and race day rains, an entire tree fell across the start line, narrowly and fortunately missing runners and spectators in that area. As a result the races were moved to the Polo Fields track, and thanks to the skills and cooperation of all involved, went off as smoothly as could have possibly been expected.
