Medical Supervision

Event medical supervision is required as part of the USATF Pacific event sanction process. Every sanctioned event must have one approved primary medical provider on site for the entire event.

Primary medical provider requirements

The primary medical provider must be one of the following and must carry their own malpractice insurance:

  • EMT (basic or paramedic)
  • Registered nurse (RN or LVN)
  • Doctor (MD or DO)

Include the provider’s current phone number and email address in the Medical section of the event sanction form.

Secondary medical providers

The following providers may assist as secondary providers, but they do not meet the primary-provider requirement. They must be at the same location as the approved primary provider and carry their own malpractice insurance.

  • Athletic trainer
  • Chiropractor
  • First aid provider (basic or advanced)
  • First responder
  • Emergency medical responder (EMR)
  • Park ranger
